EXCELSIOR Pearl CB ladies, wave (2022)

The "Pearl CB" from EXCELSIOR shows how modern pedelec technology works - or not. Because the 500 Wh battery from Bosch is integrated directly into the main tube. So it is perfectly protected and incidentally provides for the tidy overall appearance in pearl white. The Bosch Active Line Plus is also harmoniously integrated into the frame in the bottom bracket area.

The electric motor, which supports up to 25 km/h when pedaling, matches the balanced outer appearance. It supports rather gently when starting up and shows its true power at higher speeds. It is also pleasantly quiet during operation. Its four support levels can be controlled from the clear Intuvia display, or rather via the switches right next to the handle. The Shimano Nexus internal gear hub with eight gears takes over the fine-tuning of the drive, which also offers the familiar coaster brake and can also be easily switched from the handlebars.

The brakes are just as sensitive as the engine. The Shimano MT 200 hydraulic disc brakes can also really bite, but they are especially convincing due to their always light operating forces.

The 40 lux bright LED headlight from CONTEC and the taillight with parking light function is of course also powered by the battery. It is held by the luggage carrier, which even loads up to 25kg for example in panniers - more than enough for the daily shopping or the equipment for the weekend tour.

Last but not least, the frame determines how the bike is ridden. As torsionally stiff as it is, the Pearl CB can also be ridden in a sporty, direct manner if desired. Above all, however, it determines the upright riding position in which the affordable Pearl CB can be ridden every day for all occasions.
